In an effort to enhance transparency and accountability, from June 2009 to June 2010, CISDOMA conducted the project Piloting the Model of Community Participation in the Planning Process for the Construction of Social Welfare Works in Trang Xa commune (Vo Nhai district, Thai Nguyen province), funded by the World Bank, to enhance the awareness and capacity of the community to participate in the planning process and budget expenditure for the construction of social welfare works. Lasting for 13 months with a total budget of 13,669 US$, the project won the highest award in the Vietnam Innovation Day 2009 competition with the theme “Enhancing Transparency, Accountability, Reducing Corruption.” The competition was co-funded by the Australian Agency for International Development, the Embassy of Canada, the Embassy of Denmark, the UK Department for International Development, the Embassy of Finland, and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
