The project “Youth Tackling Gender Stereotypes and Promoting Gender Equality” is funded by the European Union (EU) (website: http://europa.eu and social network https://www.facebook.com/EUandVietnam/) through Oxfam in Vietnam, and implemented by The Consultative Institute for Socio-Economic Development of Rural and Mountainous Areas (CISDOMA) in the three cities of Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City.

Project Goal: To promote gender equality in Vietnam by increasing youth participation in changing gender stereotypes.

The project aims to change public attitudes and actions in the three largest cities of Vietnam towards equality between men and women in all areas of life. For new gender attitudes and behaviors to stick, people need to be informed and inspired, apply new behaviors repeatedly, and be recognized for their contributions to their families, communities, and society. Therefore, the Project implements a comprehensive set of interventions combining (i) inspirational behavior change communication to inspire change, (ii) calls for action within the project’s target communities, and (iii) recognition and rewarding of the winners. The Project initiates changes among young people, journalists, and advertising businesses, who will then drive further changes for the public. The award mechanisms will encourage target groups to take actions to change gender stereotypes within and beyond the Project’s timeframe.
