As part of the organization’s food security policy, Bread for the World (BfdW) was developing a strategic direction to promote agroecology in Vietnam and Laos.

CISDOMA provided a consultancy package to BfdW on the “Comprehensive Analysis of Current Local Resources and Potential towards Agroecology in Food Production in Vietnam.”

Timeframe: From November 2017 to February 2018

Purpose: This study provided a comprehensive analysis of the approaches, potential, and specialized resources, State policy frameworks, and standards systems in Vietnam and Laos regarding agroecology. This was intended to inform BfdW’s partner organizations as well as Bread for the World’s fundraising and advocacy strategy.

CISDOMA’s Services:

  • Researching and analyzing relevant documents related to the agroecology approach and its potential in Vietnam, including scientific and State policy reports, and resources available online.
  • Conducting consultations with relevant research institutes, universities, organizations, and experts in Vietnam and carrying out field trips to localities that have successfully implemented best practices and models.
  • Analyzing the suitability of farming models and best practices, their potential and limitations for wider replication, highlighting regional and geographical differences.
  • Sharing results and recommendations with partner organizations and the VEST team, and exchanging and sharing methods and results with the consultant conducting the analysis in Laos to ensure a holistic and comprehensive knowledge transfer.
